I really enjoyed being in his head and getting to know him better. He is often seen as the comic relief in the series but he’s so much more than that. Kenji is such a wonderful character and I loved being in his mind. If I didn’t, I think my own pain would’ve killed me a long time ago.īut Shadow Me isn’t only a good read to refresh your memory. I have to make a conscious effort to remember that. ![]() My body works, my brain works, I’m alive. I was a lot better prepared going into Defy Me. As I said, I had forgotten a lot from Restore Me and Shadow Me refreshed my mind on some of the important details. That made this the perfect novella to read before picking op Defy Me. Shadow Me is about one of my favorite characters from the series, Kenji! It’s a little over a 100 pages and its set during the last chapters from Restore Me. The ending of Restore Me left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenji’s signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over until Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series, hits shelves in April 2019. Juliette is still reeling from Warner's betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her with his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment. Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.When I started reading Defy Me I realized I had forgotten a lot about Restore Me haha. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of.īack at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner-and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. ![]()
